FREE Printable: Spooky Halloween Banner

Hello everyone! I wanted to share with you this Halloween banner I made...and I'm giving it to you for FREE (my favorite "F" word)!!!! Here's the banner...I'm not too sure where I'm going to officially hang it yet, but I have about a week until I will start decorating for Halloween so hopefully by then I'll figure it out.

I printed mine out on brown/cardboard looking card stock that I had on hand. I bought a 50 sheet pack from Michael's awhile back. I used my crop-a-dile to punch holes on each side of the banner pieces and strung them up with black ribbon. And you know me, I inked my edges even more...I love the grungy look...especially for HALLOWEEN! This banner can be printed on any color paper you want or you could also print it on white and you could glimmer mist it, which would look pretty cool.

Now you can download your copy of the printable PDF by clicking HERE. Have fun with it! And as always, thanks for stopping by!

Decoupage Bird

I recently went to Michael's craft store and had a mini shopping spree. One of the things I purchased was an unfinished wooden bird. Here's a video on how I stained and decoupaged it.

Here's how my final bird came out. I used some berries and leaves from a pick I purchased awhile back and glimmer misted a Prima flower and hot glued them into place.

Pinspiration Sunday: T-Shirt Rosettes on a Wreath

When I originally thought about making these T-shirt rosettes I was going to use an old gray tee I had to cover my lamp shade for this lamp makeover. But then I decided not to. I have pinned several ideas for wreaths and I decided that I would make these flowers for on my wreath. Now some wreaths I pinned were spray painted...and I absolutely wanted to do that in the Spring which was when I purchased my grapevine wreath...and well...it was still sitting in my craft room closet with the price tag still on...but now I have made a gorgeous new wreath anyways...just a little different than originally planned.

I previously posted a video showing how to make the yellow flowers. You can see the how-to here. This post will show you how I made the orange flowers. First I had an old T-shirt that was given to my by a friend for FREE! (Love that word!) I was going to make a reusable shopping bag, but never did get around to making one with this shirt. {Please ignore the ugly stains on my carpet...Good Tip: always lay something down and around where you Glimmer Mist!}

Then I cut it into strips. I started at the seam along the bottom but was not using the bottom as a flower (I used it later on). I cut a total of 4 strips about an inch in thickness.

I cut two of the strips of t-shirt along one fold making two long strips. Then I cut the other two along each fold (2 cuts) making 4 shorter strips. This gave me 6 total flowers.

Next I used this awesome tape I got from Michael's. I only used this because it was had...LOL. But you would want to use something similar, just maybe not as decorative as the tape won't be seen.

Take one strip and fold it in half length wise

Next start at one end rolling and turning creating your center.

Although the tape helped hold the fabric together as I rolled I thought added some hot glue could only help and not hinder.

Just keep rolling around, hot gluing when you need to.

Once I reached the end I secured it down with hot glue. This is what the bottom looks like.

Then I just placed my flowers on my wreath. I figured out how I wanted them placed BEFORE I hot glued them down. Deciding the orange weren't enough, I added the yellow...and I still wanted some more filler so I added in some leaves. Then I used the T-shirt bottom as my hanger at the top.

Hope you enjoyed this tutorial. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. Thank you for stopping by!

DIY Burlap Roses

I had a post awhile back about glimmer misting burlap...in that post I mentioned that I made roses out of them. Here's a video to show how to make your own burlap roses.

Pinspiration Sunday: Recycled Book Keepsake Box

I picked up a few old Reader’s Digests a few years ago from a yard sale. I figured one day I would find something to do with them. When I saw this pinned by Better Homes & Gardens, I knew I finally had something…a keepsake box.

Now I have no idea what to put inside this thing, but I had to make it anyways. Here’s what I did to make mine. First I applied mod podge to the very last page and allowed it to adhere to the back cover. Then I applied mod podge around the outside of the pages and allowed them to dry completely (making sure the front cover does not stick to the pages).

After it all dried, I measured one inch around each side and marked it. And then I connected the marks.

Then I used my xacto knife to cut along the lines (I actually used my ruler to help guide my first cut all the way around).

Once all 4 sides had been cut, I removed the pages. Then I cut along the same path and removed those pages. I continued to do this until I reached my desired depth.

Next, I thought it would like pretty cool if I colored the inside of the newly formed box. I sprayed it with Tattered Angel’s Glimmer Mist and allowed it to dry. Then, I sealed the inside of the “box” with mod podge and allowed it to dry fully.

For the envelope, I already had a box of them that fit 4X6 inch cards. I distressed it using Tim Holt’s blending tool and distressed inks in Vintage Photo and Antique Linen. I attached it to the inside front cover using my ATG gun.

Next I just decorated it. I used a burlap flower I made (future tutorial) and a burlap leaf on the cover. This is my final book/box:

Glimmer Mists and Burlap

One of the great things I love about this blog is I can look to see how people came across it. This post is for the person looking to find out if you can glimmer mist burlap. The answer is...YES! I just haven't posted about it yet. I figured before I show what I was making with my glimmer misted burlap strips, I would just show you the strips. The first time I tried it I wanted to make a flower for a box but all I have is various shades of brown/tan/cream colors. I took my lightest color and sprayed it front and back with Tattered Angel's Cross My Heart glimmer mist. I let it dry completely (this takes awhile becuase it takes a lot of glimmer mist to cover it). This is the box I made:

Then I decided to make up a bunch of roses...here's the post on those. But these are the strips I made. I used Tattered Angel's Dragonfly, Pomegranate, Vintage Pink and Cross My Heart glimmer mists.

Pinspiration Sunday: Burlap Wrapped Letter

I'm falling in love with burlap. When I found this on Pinterest I knew I had to try it. The picture is actually from an Etsy shop named DuryeaPlaceDesigns.

I wanted to make this for my mother for her birthday. I only spent $4 on the wood letter that I picked up at A.C. Moore. I had everything else scattered around my craft room. Here’s what you’ll need to make one like mine:

Burlap
Flowers (I used different kinds of Prima flowers)
Berry garland
Hot glue gun and glue
Scissors
Wire cutters
Glimmer mists of various shades
Leaves

I started out with my letter.

First I cut my burlap into about 2 and ½ inch strip and wrapped around the letter securing each end behind the letter with hot glue.

I then realized that this was too thick for the burlap strip. I then cut the next piece of burlap somewhere between 1 and ½ inches to 2 inches. I wish I could explain how I got around the edges that stick out, but I have no idea…I just moved the burlap around and around and used a lot of hot glue…lol. But it worked! I used a total of 3 strips of burlap.

Next I used Tattered Angel's glimmer mist to color my flowers and leaves. I tried to use colors on the flowers that matched the berries from a piece of berry garland I wanted to use with this project.

Then I just arranged them how I liked them and hot glued them down. I used excess wire from the berry garland and curled them around a pen to get the few curly twigs.

Here’s the final letter.

And here's another one I made for my Aunt.

You can either tie ribbon on the top (seen in the picture above) or use a wreath holder to hang it.
