As some of you know, I've battled with rheumatoid arthritis for about 7 years now. When my son was 6 month old I started with a flare-up in my right right wrist. Unlike with other flares, this one was not responding to steroids. We added new medications but still wasn't working. I would feed my son with tears in my eyes and my hand shaking from the pain. I'm also an ultrasound tech and I would scan in practically the same way. Years have passed and we couldn't get this inflammation down so my rheumatologist finally referred me to a hand surgeon. He was able to get the inflammation down after several steroid injections. The problem I have now is that the chronic flare has displaced my ulna and now it rubs against my metacarpals. My wrist literally clicks as I try to write a simple note. And typing this post has increased my pain level from my standard 5 to easily a 6 pushing 7. So as you can image, craft projects have been put on the back burner. But next month I'm going in for surgery to have the ulna shortened. I will be in a cast for 6 weeks and cannot work for a total of 12 to fully recover. I'm hoping that once I am completely healed I can get back into my crafting. I miss making things and sharing those how-to's with all of you. Please bare with me and I hope that by this Fall I will ready and raring to go, pain free and full of projects to share with you. Thanks for stopping by.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14875169319271302852noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8006321569784888465.post-57641298894385219362016-01-24T15:15:00.001-05:002016-01-24T15:15:21.055-05:00DIY Coffee Filter Wreath<div style="text-align: center;">

Are you tired of nursery DIY tutorials? Me neither! So here's another one...DIY mobile.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjoG5OZvyqMzmG5QyP6T0B9BaadAvyQI2qFJJUkI6mHqkxYphmNIf_7YUJz0qi95xfF6YNGWT31X4zcngwTHrSznZfb048hOD2iZsQAfs-facu67KbbSY3cDSDo_SD6y18UeOB3aXa9gTw/s1600/011.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjoG5OZvyqMzmG5QyP6T0B9BaadAvyQI2qFJJUkI6mHqkxYphmNIf_7YUJz0qi95xfF6YNGWT31X4zcngwTHrSznZfb048hOD2iZsQAfs-facu67KbbSY3cDSDo_SD6y18UeOB3aXa9gTw/s1600/011.JPG" height="320" width="213" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
My inspiration came from this picture on Pinterest from an Etsy Shop called <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/MarigoldPoms?ref=l2-shopheader-name" target="_blank">Marigold Poms</a>.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="I could make something like this" height="320" src="http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/00/05/ed/0005ed8a254991e8211b0faaf74fc698.jpg" width="225" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here's how I made mine...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><u>Supplies:</u></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><b>Embroidery hoop</b> (I used a 12in)</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><b>ribbon/string</b></i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><b>fabric in varying colors</b></i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><b>corks</b></i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><b>hot glue</b></i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><b>pins</b></i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><b><br /></b></i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><u>OPTIONAL:</u></i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><b>spray paint </b>(I used a cream color)</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><b>Bird </b>(which I made)</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><i>sewing machine</i></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><i>matching thread</i></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><i><br /></i></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
First things first you have to make your pom poms. I used different types of fabric which included cottons, fleece and felt. I cut out a bunch of circles for each fabric.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><i><br /></i></b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8v8C0EPzGr_HPPlO2Ct2g88kRzN3ydC4_CbItWd7ESUWu_wHoB1xOfkmh38Ssz19EdC27LieIrfE5T3qTQN48_KDtomKIA4vtsa8bAmxavvtIvS_gJD_O1tKOmMd1YRvXJvOB71vJsMc/s1600/006.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8v8C0EPzGr_HPPlO2Ct2g88kRzN3ydC4_CbItWd7ESUWu_wHoB1xOfkmh38Ssz19EdC27LieIrfE5T3qTQN48_KDtomKIA4vtsa8bAmxavvtIvS_gJD_O1tKOmMd1YRvXJvOB71vJsMc/s1600/006.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next, instead of buying Styrofoam balls, I decided to use corks, which I have a ton of (saving them for some other project I might get around to doing someday). I cut them in half. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh48T9vt2NQ3_lFykyE7CP-OQYpr0Umo-ncEVpyQWum7yBTLSlKsS0fTaEKpoyJV6vaUZqisWH_dCiiUvB_4tusNdrYNdlbIZllCJInPlLo8Ky59iSuVRRHTGX2yJ-DeD5aZN6h_MKpcOo/s1600/007.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh48T9vt2NQ3_lFykyE7CP-OQYpr0Umo-ncEVpyQWum7yBTLSlKsS0fTaEKpoyJV6vaUZqisWH_dCiiUvB_4tusNdrYNdlbIZllCJInPlLo8Ky59iSuVRRHTGX2yJ-DeD5aZN6h_MKpcOo/s1600/007.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here's a video to show you exactly how I assembled them.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/PUEOzfQCTdk?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next, I wanted to incorporate a bird into the mobile. I used the fabric bird tutorial I found on <a href="http://www.lavendersbluedesigns.com/diy-fabric-bird-tutorial-free-printable/" target="_blank">Lavender's Blue Designs </a>. You can click over to her page for the pattern and follow her directions from there. I also took pictures along the way to show you the process. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_cMihq5iJIoj01dF80ax5Mz9GoL2zI9X5DBmtOnAo7_V1LP8MzSlRWUeZsFAsUYJiX1kWJS1DxVvKBN9oLQzDs8cCc36Bq15rbbZsHp6Vvqga26WbLUjxW4QtnLJI2Mddip_sQEK1MIU/s1600/008.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_cMihq5iJIoj01dF80ax5Mz9GoL2zI9X5DBmtOnAo7_V1LP8MzSlRWUeZsFAsUYJiX1kWJS1DxVvKBN9oLQzDs8cCc36Bq15rbbZsHp6Vvqga26WbLUjxW4QtnLJI2Mddip_sQEK1MIU/s1600/008.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
After you print and cut out the FREE pattern, you can trace each piece onto the fabric you plan to use. You will trace and cut out 2 bird shapes and 2 wing shapes but only 1 bottom.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirrtniAAks8u8e2Q8EfB4nm-e8Yh0FY1UO2a6hCyQeMQgTyXWRp6Pk_ifGv-Gnv33UZ3cuFVV3ZLDo48yvwvbvO5dJgvOHW0SRXcEspI38h8Yy8RWr0H17fIg8dcD-17v4KcWQ0PHABeY/s1600/009.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirrtniAAks8u8e2Q8EfB4nm-e8Yh0FY1UO2a6hCyQeMQgTyXWRp6Pk_ifGv-Gnv33UZ3cuFVV3ZLDo48yvwvbvO5dJgvOHW0SRXcEspI38h8Yy8RWr0H17fIg8dcD-17v4KcWQ0PHABeY/s1600/009.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaBEBAPsaI9-3mLTvwNTayqi1RmRRjvs_WpoJoYQpD2xjpngJvOLa8pC5I3xj8vNZuukdvEp7ughUy1jBU6PU8qoBLk2XWXp8Plutwu45YpMfHj3enI7FI-lTiNeIqEJTqWNhEwFY6HbY/s1600/010.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaBEBAPsaI9-3mLTvwNTayqi1RmRRjvs_WpoJoYQpD2xjpngJvOLa8pC5I3xj8vNZuukdvEp7ughUy1jBU6PU8qoBLk2XWXp8Plutwu45YpMfHj3enI7FI-lTiNeIqEJTqWNhEwFY6HbY/s1600/010.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next, I used an overcasting stitch to attach one wing to each bird. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgj8P7h-Q8XSg6092iE3I0AWebgpoXdoua0TbczKj9M3CyvWD4bhlIoFt0-Gh8Od6uKNsHny0CHONatkT-gJuhP0DEeJ-QUEry0MLKiLHqoDvIpenAstf1NsCOi96msGi4BKaB8bpAkSg/s1600/011.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgj8P7h-Q8XSg6092iE3I0AWebgpoXdoua0TbczKj9M3CyvWD4bhlIoFt0-Gh8Od6uKNsHny0CHONatkT-gJuhP0DEeJ-QUEry0MLKiLHqoDvIpenAstf1NsCOi96msGi4BKaB8bpAkSg/s1600/011.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjD1ZLrFz2vUr5ydsscCFUEI-EwEOtUaDoJgIiUjYnwzi6_JfKl37yFj8D9NvdRFTYDhmgFHhs_1Su3PzflOBqHMKqLDf3cDNrD_WqZMZneOIpht9A88fw07Zuse9GtpkUO0QrCR6VI0Sk/s1600/012.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjD1ZLrFz2vUr5ydsscCFUEI-EwEOtUaDoJgIiUjYnwzi6_JfKl37yFj8D9NvdRFTYDhmgFHhs_1Su3PzflOBqHMKqLDf3cDNrD_WqZMZneOIpht9A88fw07Zuse9GtpkUO0QrCR6VI0Sk/s1600/012.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then, with the right sides of the two birds facing each other, sew along the top of the bird from the beak to the tail .</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
No you want to start on the bottom. Remember, the right sides of the fabric should face each other. Pin along the edge and sew, first one side then the other.</div>
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now that it's sewn, turn it right side out.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now it's time to stuff it. I used the stuffing from an old toy my son no longer plays with. Once you've stuffed it, you want to sew the tail. And you should get something like this.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
For the embrodiery hoop, I spray painted mine a cream color and allowed it to dry completely.</div>

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9LMfb9vd4bB9qO1kOFzU0kOYLIXKbT2cvmEc6HO6yGVan33Kd7uNoH3AgYfwsty3_VghY9y1pWYrBDQ6VPDbtEWAo7GpODAycIGduEOp96pNb3n-RG4-4Jq-bi2gKilM7sMAabo0zOL0/s1600/020.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9LMfb9vd4bB9qO1kOFzU0kOYLIXKbT2cvmEc6HO6yGVan33Kd7uNoH3AgYfwsty3_VghY9y1pWYrBDQ6VPDbtEWAo7GpODAycIGduEOp96pNb3n-RG4-4Jq-bi2gKilM7sMAabo0zOL0/s1600/020.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next I used ribbon to attach the pom poms I made and enough to hang the mobile. It goes something like this</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvPfjJ51pjCZ2DfRa2w_BQr2Q8TquwIbQEl87nduPeqpTvZQ_zJjjlHT3qp8EKOxR7e7Xl1RNE7XJIQv-JUFGrxtFjOlOb23k31sZF16P5taFXAVRpP6k_IZ_TQcGHDMArLXUSsIN1h2A/s1600/021.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvPfjJ51pjCZ2DfRa2w_BQr2Q8TquwIbQEl87nduPeqpTvZQ_zJjjlHT3qp8EKOxR7e7Xl1RNE7XJIQv-JUFGrxtFjOlOb23k31sZF16P5taFXAVRpP6k_IZ_TQcGHDMArLXUSsIN1h2A/s1600/021.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I used orange thread that was quadrupled up to attach the bird which was tied into the middle knot of the ribbon seen in the middle of the hoop. Then I used a thicker string to hang the mobile from the ceiling.</div>

I really wanted to have a throw pillow somewhere in baby girl's room. But since I had custom bedding, I would need a custom pillow. Now, as I have warned you in the past I'm not a great sewer...I'm not even sure if I'm a good one...but I did come up with this: </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzv6TUsOL0-0m92clWqdZx2lfTQbD3DvS6-oDxOo7wBStaviaDZKdwwoetdpwIeSOZ9Any_S3DOkHRGXqvPvVMIobYgznLdYV14zXD0cEJMJISOV6IZq3HdEOBEppU49gWzd8LUznN7Kg/s1600/017.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzv6TUsOL0-0m92clWqdZx2lfTQbD3DvS6-oDxOo7wBStaviaDZKdwwoetdpwIeSOZ9Any_S3DOkHRGXqvPvVMIobYgznLdYV14zXD0cEJMJISOV6IZq3HdEOBEppU49gWzd8LUznN7Kg/s1600/017.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is how I made it...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b><u>Supplies:</u></b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i>Throw pillow to cover...I used a 12X12 purchased from JoAnn Fabrics</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i>fabric to cover the pillow</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i>2 accent fabrics for bird</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i>buttons (I used 3)</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i>thread</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i>sewing machine</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i>measuring and cutting tools</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I cut two pieces of fabric, one measured 14in X 14in and the other was 14in X 17in. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I used a left over decor fabric which had a nice finished edge to it. If you don't have a finished edge create one by sewing a hem along the end of the fabrics which will be your open end. You do this by folding you fabric over once and then again, pin and sew. This creates no raw edges.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhQQlH8G_3KHzgWZnJQbGtI5uDDtVQOD-tq1DymU6LjDkTsb-LNqYgnaIXv6eN7vEu5hpXtAqejC21dgr7oi_TfH2pl7jsgs7iGtRV3v8q5QfvZ7HRfDrvO5Rx7t9_jl23VvVvXwhXIXU/s1600/029.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhQQlH8G_3KHzgWZnJQbGtI5uDDtVQOD-tq1DymU6LjDkTsb-LNqYgnaIXv6eN7vEu5hpXtAqejC21dgr7oi_TfH2pl7jsgs7iGtRV3v8q5QfvZ7HRfDrvO5Rx7t9_jl23VvVvXwhXIXU/s1600/029.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next, I needed a bird. I pinned a great fabric bird tutorial from <a href="http://www.lavendersbluedesigns.com/diy-fabric-bird-tutorial-free-printable/" target="_blank">Lavender's Blue Design</a> FOREVER ago and was finally going to use it. You can get the printable template at the link above. I chose to use orange fleece material I had and the wing accent was from a bird on the crib sheet bedding. I traced the template and cut out each piece, pinned them where I wanted them and sewed them in place on the front facing piece of fabric (this will be the larger of the two pieces) using a overcasting stitch. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDvrd0cVWStwWG5LeLBhF7WtAnswAKRZi2VX7WHHX2ekub0FKCgf7S76RTEUjGNibBAAml_bXhnQl7ryTIBdEJ4DTKJ9KGe18NTM4UoBdmvJcdwRUnXTF22OxeQzRO6p2QiEEsKc-uKIY/s1600/024.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDvrd0cVWStwWG5LeLBhF7WtAnswAKRZi2VX7WHHX2ekub0FKCgf7S76RTEUjGNibBAAml_bXhnQl7ryTIBdEJ4DTKJ9KGe18NTM4UoBdmvJcdwRUnXTF22OxeQzRO6p2QiEEsKc-uKIY/s1600/024.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOqbVqnxqkoVQQtBKtsGP8CJKJ3GYosv2hStWxufv24bZ93rHJn_ZN-tigv4TJSD-60rbVr1CxffvF1lZlUev2C5zg_YcZEpxaXz7uK-3B-Cr7ZNqYBtX9fKEuaYsDKz1DOEk-YA-HG7Q/s1600/025.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOqbVqnxqkoVQQtBKtsGP8CJKJ3GYosv2hStWxufv24bZ93rHJn_ZN-tigv4TJSD-60rbVr1CxffvF1lZlUev2C5zg_YcZEpxaXz7uK-3B-Cr7ZNqYBtX9fKEuaYsDKz1DOEk-YA-HG7Q/s1600/025.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next, it was time to sew the two pieces of fabric together. Have the right sides of fabric facing each other and sew along the three sides that match in measurement. Leaving one end open.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyQFF0RONUPkrl5lw-U7Mb4lkj8OGt7dq2LC96EHUV4r2gJOw_MC05WXfkbCiDx9iR8CYWZkX2I_zh7hJygQmCDy1crLyUfRO7oc4Hs3io6plVzo6OnZSce97DCXFWa3KzucWrWVo5xx0/s1600/027.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyQFF0RONUPkrl5lw-U7Mb4lkj8OGt7dq2LC96EHUV4r2gJOw_MC05WXfkbCiDx9iR8CYWZkX2I_zh7hJygQmCDy1crLyUfRO7oc4Hs3io6plVzo6OnZSce97DCXFWa3KzucWrWVo5xx0/s1600/027.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next, snip the inside corners like this </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIr-PkFNsh9s0CDjl6epWgIsOAVPWAuALvNgco8x9BCy1tcLoVe7M-toVmHXwFk9KRdiD3_S9csxI1fRPNCZlVPtL1fTx9u-tz5vzYJueORUvidnwesHE_rn9vaW1h6Qnr2j0MdItxYeA/s1600/031.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIr-PkFNsh9s0CDjl6epWgIsOAVPWAuALvNgco8x9BCy1tcLoVe7M-toVmHXwFk9KRdiD3_S9csxI1fRPNCZlVPtL1fTx9u-tz5vzYJueORUvidnwesHE_rn9vaW1h6Qnr2j0MdItxYeA/s1600/031.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then you can flip the pillowcase right side out and stuff in the pillow.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzucnBVvaSybirVd__u6UbnoXuCM4YMeUw-tqTZnLHnvBzLaw0TBeYWvm-Fa-gzqu1vZ6PgbtOmO4W7nhmU7MJO9P37-zFysRsT3sNmUVNz7Mm7PxOH82yvDRsVLq3bVmJWWAr4PhyhVQ/s1600/033.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzucnBVvaSybirVd__u6UbnoXuCM4YMeUw-tqTZnLHnvBzLaw0TBeYWvm-Fa-gzqu1vZ6PgbtOmO4W7nhmU7MJO9P37-zFysRsT3sNmUVNz7Mm7PxOH82yvDRsVLq3bVmJWWAr4PhyhVQ/s1600/033.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Not sure how one would actually handle this, but here's what I did...My front fabric, once folded to the back kind of stuck up on the top and bottom so I decided to fold the fabric in and sew it at an angle.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhVuRzt4vRxiDCaIUF5n-e4BmQ_KxXQrzQK358iUyl_NQNQRq-3JHY1ODe5XKzbj601-0I0ch7tDTAm3c08_06gBzczOAii62mQECML2fNl8fVpex6n4EMju2Ym_8uFc_WsX-El6nXg54/s1600/001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhVuRzt4vRxiDCaIUF5n-e4BmQ_KxXQrzQK358iUyl_NQNQRq-3JHY1ODe5XKzbj601-0I0ch7tDTAm3c08_06gBzczOAii62mQECML2fNl8fVpex6n4EMju2Ym_8uFc_WsX-El6nXg54/s1600/001.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next, I marked using a piece of chalk where I wanted my buttons to go...I didn't measure to make them perfect, just eye-balled it. I used my sewing machine on a button hole setting and created the holes for my buttons. Once those holes were created, I placed the fabric how it would lay once the buttons were attached, marked through the button holes where the buttons should be placed, then sewed the buttons on by hand. I got something like this: </div>

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFk-uMw1HZxhMNwzwMjxei4KWEDB1qe1jaYsXO-I8fitJxwTNqZIIA4IY83ePxEdSxfsVDC9BdQDa_7nrWeKfoWp7fO-CFtOGX5DasMMylEmRL-AJ8Rc20hYdhUhHByJeHeCLr08ty7RI/s1600/013.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFk-uMw1HZxhMNwzwMjxei4KWEDB1qe1jaYsXO-I8fitJxwTNqZIIA4IY83ePxEdSxfsVDC9BdQDa_7nrWeKfoWp7fO-CFtOGX5DasMMylEmRL-AJ8Rc20hYdhUhHByJeHeCLr08ty7RI/s1600/013.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Have you seen these door jammers floating around on Pinterest? If you haven't, the idea is this...you can sneak in and out of your little one's room without having to turn the door knob and wake them. They are super cute and a crazy great idea...and once you've bought one, you realize, these would be so easy to make. Like everything else in our baby girl's nursery, I needed a custom made one to match, right?!?! ;) The best part? I already had all my supplies so it didn't cost me a thing...I love FREE! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So here's how I made mine.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><u>Supplies:</u></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><b>2 hair ties</b> (those really thick ones)</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><b>fabric</b></i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><b>cushiony</b> (if that's a word)<b> fabric like felt or fleece </b>(I used fleece)</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><b>measuring and cutting tools</b></i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><b>thread</b></i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><b>sewing machine</b></i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><b>iron</b></i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><b><br /></b></i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVPyNx9TC4Tf34eOh3qrg1NIiLdZWw4ekpTVhV1ptkGMf4WBqBwvfBTK8w4WIsKgEKvtGJxfvqx4OI4EHvsq5nOkJDBUPERO62I8yjBtE1cYi4G5NJlC07kMCMbZbWx_toBDME-gv4alk/s1600/001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVPyNx9TC4Tf34eOh3qrg1NIiLdZWw4ekpTVhV1ptkGMf4WBqBwvfBTK8w4WIsKgEKvtGJxfvqx4OI4EHvsq5nOkJDBUPERO62I8yjBtE1cYi4G5NJlC07kMCMbZbWx_toBDME-gv4alk/s1600/001.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I had some fabric leftover from my <a href="http://ellie-whenlifegivesyoulemons.blogspot.com/2014/08/diy-crib-bumper-makeover.html" target="_blank">crib bumper makeover</a> so I used that. You want to cut your pieces into rectangles. My section of leftover fabric was 6 inches wide, so I cut my pieces 6" X 4" to get started.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUPT8XbcUg6A9b3H77frtYcDoyuRlNqFkuBF7WrvZcOwU9b905AM8qwjkrIsaAZwBREp0EdO0BGa1vwCkKbfIGpX6LohnogFBbNKmYhZHdFHbY1KS-RCAzYw3Uz3ybKMh6ivd5A3kmEjA/s1600/003.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUPT8XbcUg6A9b3H77frtYcDoyuRlNqFkuBF7WrvZcOwU9b905AM8qwjkrIsaAZwBREp0EdO0BGa1vwCkKbfIGpX6LohnogFBbNKmYhZHdFHbY1KS-RCAzYw3Uz3ybKMh6ivd5A3kmEjA/s1600/003.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9Kx-fp7C1kKpBHR2HfMZaZ-ZJ6DMwSBAohRESftrFrJmV9N0MLBNAWPjz_nTsP77RQ3pug-ROO3CXs52DzrVoLDKympS2AQvjfPN6NnUb6qWNdd9IZdwYtb5r7LXqlWTcFzq8c8LfkuQ/s1600/004.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9Kx-fp7C1kKpBHR2HfMZaZ-ZJ6DMwSBAohRESftrFrJmV9N0MLBNAWPjz_nTsP77RQ3pug-ROO3CXs52DzrVoLDKympS2AQvjfPN6NnUb6qWNdd9IZdwYtb5r7LXqlWTcFzq8c8LfkuQ/s1600/004.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next, you want to fold your fabric edges over and iron them down. This will give you a nice smooth edge for your finished project. I didn't measure mine, just did one piece all the way around and then matched the second piece by laying it on top to see where my creases need to be made.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3fAFdLofAcF-GTzKtwSDxcrNEwmiZRBA48HtqD37k-sgiwkn3TlpBGGQl791En_L72iqmNgWWDYIO2-mT81W16fanKwfmIVJ4dxImEzxiSSQ8SczM37Ea8ahvQbLG7O_az8AYrxEjcTc/s1600/005.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3fAFdLofAcF-GTzKtwSDxcrNEwmiZRBA48HtqD37k-sgiwkn3TlpBGGQl791En_L72iqmNgWWDYIO2-mT81W16fanKwfmIVJ4dxImEzxiSSQ8SczM37Ea8ahvQbLG7O_az8AYrxEjcTc/s1600/005.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1mXkXZ8Z6SufWVXJ4gZ2W_35llloDqq7LiazWuK85WUo2HbUEONJ1VPZ5l4Da_RIUx_6QnXDXG5eX78HY3Y36DwBs2i6BjU2R9IEznwgCpPRIVYclPhDXSlOCKHyoQdHv10dIqe-ZJ7A/s1600/006.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1mXkXZ8Z6SufWVXJ4gZ2W_35llloDqq7LiazWuK85WUo2HbUEONJ1VPZ5l4Da_RIUx_6QnXDXG5eX78HY3Y36DwBs2i6BjU2R9IEznwgCpPRIVYclPhDXSlOCKHyoQdHv10dIqe-ZJ7A/s1600/006.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next I cut my corners down so there wasn't so much fabric there.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZjprQz9G4uh4PCJYHnUlJ_ru4vFR9xEEZr9Mg4u6z66XpNLBsqK6ULiQUqdffpm-2urlPPj81vpx3PX8VFjEJ64oNZ4x_r_jrxaAoJ-Ag1tbzRs9xiYzvopTGoftbAlBGkj9ZHV_SBJE/s1600/007.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZjprQz9G4uh4PCJYHnUlJ_ru4vFR9xEEZr9Mg4u6z66XpNLBsqK6ULiQUqdffpm-2urlPPj81vpx3PX8VFjEJ64oNZ4x_r_jrxaAoJ-Ag1tbzRs9xiYzvopTGoftbAlBGkj9ZHV_SBJE/s1600/007.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then, I cut a piece of fleece slightly smaller than my two fabric rectangles. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQ32fOhLH19ibkITcDVg_ruDtLSwPfA87vJvGg8S_DMIVGi8DO2iY8hoYe8NR_ddOQszUJj8YS2HgKMkD9W_R38oliTFD8SMW50T1tbNWbD_oI4wf6GQApXTwRGdvXYKYhJckYwfjYOb8/s1600/008.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQ32fOhLH19ibkITcDVg_ruDtLSwPfA87vJvGg8S_DMIVGi8DO2iY8hoYe8NR_ddOQszUJj8YS2HgKMkD9W_R38oliTFD8SMW50T1tbNWbD_oI4wf6GQApXTwRGdvXYKYhJckYwfjYOb8/s1600/008.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And put it inside the folded over edges of one of the fabric rectangles.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhECuIa4UAmMavxcFHQkhBBY9y3WxSiBsViOg-SGSHGXmtuuiQPiFgb6i6i4SWVWYUZAD7aU94NMujcEJhE90C0Wm5N5I_dTJhMKwajobE18DcKT79953x9XZa-oQ2rNWh1L0lr2gwjWIA/s1600/009.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhECuIa4UAmMavxcFHQkhBBY9y3WxSiBsViOg-SGSHGXmtuuiQPiFgb6i6i4SWVWYUZAD7aU94NMujcEJhE90C0Wm5N5I_dTJhMKwajobE18DcKT79953x9XZa-oQ2rNWh1L0lr2gwjWIA/s1600/009.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next, I put the hair ties in place on each end of the rectangle.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQpaCzcarOKYHTrQCmS-Wr6R72_eL03dfc3GnbQoFK3JrRpeksryRw3N5sYVzr5WsVvcCAtMWinwshGnDMWnCMPmxw_3AdNnNVSy8Hzdf8JoTxueH9XLuHb-34jBqEUqk8KBqJnnqNAHY/s1600/010.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQpaCzcarOKYHTrQCmS-Wr6R72_eL03dfc3GnbQoFK3JrRpeksryRw3N5sYVzr5WsVvcCAtMWinwshGnDMWnCMPmxw_3AdNnNVSy8Hzdf8JoTxueH9XLuHb-34jBqEUqk8KBqJnnqNAHY/s1600/010.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
After that, I placed the second fabric rectangle on top, lining up the edges and pinning them together.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGy-kO8ctVIu49_9wo_PH6tc8CMiyp9BPQ8-CqfPZT2tlI7k1OGTaml0sFNnHy-6qn6HVdgrFbVuoRf_fNoO4Uazb1UZED7kfpg-aP-yhrJ78Q4ZmOPGJyEwAkmPsa82FHwPNuWtQKqpE/s1600/011.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGy-kO8ctVIu49_9wo_PH6tc8CMiyp9BPQ8-CqfPZT2tlI7k1OGTaml0sFNnHy-6qn6HVdgrFbVuoRf_fNoO4Uazb1UZED7kfpg-aP-yhrJ78Q4ZmOPGJyEwAkmPsa82FHwPNuWtQKqpE/s1600/011.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now, you're ready to sew. As seen in the other images of door jammers, I sewed along the outside edge then moved in about a quarter inch or so and sewed all the way around again. This is how it turned out.</div>

Okay...so this project was a little more difficult then I liked...mostly just stuffing the old bumper into the bumper case I just created. I started out taking pictures and then I was just kind of over it. I pinned this tutorial from the <a href="http://tndickersondiaries.blogspot.com/2012/01/how-to-recover-crib-bumpers.html" target="_blank">Dickerson Diaries</a>, please check out that tutorial. For my project I used one fabric (bought 3 yards used almost all) then another solid color for the ties (1/2 yard). Here's how I used just one fabric. I measured the bumper I was planning to cover (bought it at a second hand store, washed it, dried it and then I was ready to cover it) which was 9 1/2 inches tall and 153 inches long. I measured my fabric and cut it to be 12 inches tall and cut the entire 3 yards length. I did this until the entire bumper was covered twice (to cover inside and out). Then I sewed all pieces together to make one VERY long strip. For the rest of the process I would check out <a href="http://tndickersondiaries.blogspot.com/2012/01/how-to-recover-crib-bumpers.html" target="_blank">Dickerson Diaries. </a> It's a great tutorial and was easy to follow. The only thing I changed was instead of having both ends meet and both ends have ties, I connected ties to one end and on the other I made holes using my button hole feature on my sewing machine then laced the ties from the other end through those before tying it to the crib. These are pictures from some of the process and the finished bumper.</div>

<br />
Here's another post on getting the nursery ready. I'm on overdrive as they are thinking of placing me on bed rest and have given me steroids in case I should have a preterm delivery. So it's time to get these projects done. This one came from <a href="http://prudentbaby.com/2009/12/baby-kid/diy-changing-pad-cover-tutorial-2/" target="_blank">Pretty Prudent</a> again. I used the left over fabric from my <a href="http://ellie-whenlifegivesyoulemons.blogspot.com/2014/07/pinspiration-sunday-diy-crib-sheet.html" target="_blank">crib sheet tutorial </a>and my <a href="http://ellie-whenlifegivesyoulemons.blogspot.com/2014/07/pinspiration-sunday-diy-adjustable-crib.html" target="_blank">adjustable crib skirt tutorial</a>.<br />
<br />
<b><i><u>Supplies:</u></i></b><br />
<i>Fabric of your choice</i><br />
<i>sewing machine</i><br />
<i>thread </i><br />
<i>elastic</i><br />
<i>pins and a safety pin</i><br />
<i>scissors</i><br />
<i>measuring tools</i><br />
<i>iron</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
<b><i>*Be sure to wash and dry your fabric before you begin*</i></b><br />
<b><i><br /></i></b>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
My changing pad is the standard 32" long X 16" wide and 3-4" high so these directions are for those measurements. Since I used two fabrics I measured one to be 17.5" X 32" and the other 30.5" X 32". or you can use one fabric and cut it to measure 48" X 32".</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Place your fabrics facing one another along the 32" side and sew them together. Jaime suggested then trimming the seam with pinking shears but I don't own those so I did not (like I've said before I'm not a seamstress). Then iron your seam flat.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZgTvXB3SKZtTobwRI0-rcB-o7N2a8B5H3SKjQqlmQ3-BNqGxl5WsdJlBbDX5rKbC-KbrUbZChOGjneHH92zArRBczb_ruEAEvKFWhCz8X7Z9OTDSXjSxE6uXlajdnqrBXVNeWzJ44flA/s1600/001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZgTvXB3SKZtTobwRI0-rcB-o7N2a8B5H3SKjQqlmQ3-BNqGxl5WsdJlBbDX5rKbC-KbrUbZChOGjneHH92zArRBczb_ruEAEvKFWhCz8X7Z9OTDSXjSxE6uXlajdnqrBXVNeWzJ44flA/s1600/001.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Next cut 8" X 8" squares out of each corner. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Now with the two sides facing each other sew along to create your corners.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4NfonoMcBuMYnTqHjM64yrrYeliKNr0AjhiFcS5u_E99P4Q_deUy6OodkSY_3ozsiipd5WwxWznOIxKdWkp0RbPO-AcyNGPidnBF1jR51yNeR2Ve2kydHjz-NiGNNf5a7SmSv61h3c8Q/s1600/005.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4NfonoMcBuMYnTqHjM64yrrYeliKNr0AjhiFcS5u_E99P4Q_deUy6OodkSY_3ozsiipd5WwxWznOIxKdWkp0RbPO-AcyNGPidnBF1jR51yNeR2Ve2kydHjz-NiGNNf5a7SmSv61h3c8Q/s1600/005.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Now it's time to create the hem to feed your elastic through. Fold your fabric over about a half inch or so and iron. Then fold over again and pin (this time I didn't iron...I'm lazy). Next sew along to create your hem leaving room so that you can thread your elastic through. Start in one corner, back stitching and leave room when you come back to that corner to thread the elastic and back stitch.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Jaime said to use a yard of elastic 5/8" or less. I used a 1/2" elastic and once I finished it was too tight and my changing pad would not lay flat so I took the elastic out and used a 46" piece and this worked great for me. Pin one end to the cover and pin a safety pin to the other end and feed through the hem you've made.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So here's a project I found on Pinterest from the blog <a href="http://www.viewalongtheway.com/2012/04/silliest-little-adjustable-crib-skirt-tutorial-on-the-web/" target="_blank"> View Along the Way</a>. I thought this was going to be ridiculously easy...and well it is...if you have proper tools and know what you're doing...that's not exactly me and I have this belly to contend with...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7MlJDZUVByPEV0lrM5dbH1hA1F9Ihdp8Ivdk1KI4uPcgGEJuI-aPaWZQ7yeOAYgBATt_WY_durPhl5OEQBg_u2i3Nni-Y3BfHSB4KquJYZT85E842HmfYdeZnDAbAMuxpzuDhx9dUORo/s1600/006.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7MlJDZUVByPEV0lrM5dbH1hA1F9Ihdp8Ivdk1KI4uPcgGEJuI-aPaWZQ7yeOAYgBATt_WY_durPhl5OEQBg_u2i3Nni-Y3BfHSB4KquJYZT85E842HmfYdeZnDAbAMuxpzuDhx9dUORo/s1600/006.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So I worked on my kitchen floor with the tools I had and the space I had to do it in. And it went something like this...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b><i><u>Supplies:</u></i></b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>Fabric</b> of your choice. As Kelly suggested I used a home decor 54" fabric and used about 2 yards</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>Measuring tools</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>Scissors</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>Fabric marker</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>Pins</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>Sewing Machine</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>Iron</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>Thread to match your fabric</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i>**Be sure to wash, dry and iron your fabric first**</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You'll need to measure your crib to get the exact dimensions you need for your project. Mine Measured 51.5 inches wide (across the front) X 27.5 inches deep X 17 inches high. Now Kelly suggested you add a one inch seam allowance and an additional 2 inches for the height. Therefore, I cutout 1 piece of fabric which measured 52.5 inches X 20 inches. TO make it easier on me I actually folded the fabric and measured with a yardstick 26.25 inches to get the length I needed. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next I worked on the 2 side panels. For this, I folded the fabric in half, ironed the fold and worked from there so I had less measuring and cutting. I measured, marked and cut to get 2 pieces that measured 28.5 inches X 20 inches.</div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Now it's time to measure for those seams. <i>Working with only a half inch on each side was torturous for my arthritis, but I did it. If I were to ever make something like this again I would allow more seam allowance. </i>I measured and marked along the fabric 1/2 inch. Then I folded a section so the raw edge lined up with my marks and then I folded it over again and pinned. You can iron your edges, but I just went ahead a sewed it as they were.</div>

Once all your edges are sewn it's time to attach Velcro if you have a spring bottom (if you have a fiberboard bottom you can just pin your skirt to that. For pics on a fiberboard bottom, check out <a href="http://www.viewalongtheway.com/2012/04/silliest-little-adjustable-crib-skirt-tutorial-on-the-web/" target="_blank">Kelly's from View Along the Way</a>). I took 5 pieces roughtly 4 inches long and sewed them as evenly as I could without actually measuring along the top of one of the longest panel (your front). I used 3 pieces on the side panels.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So after discovering we were having a baby girl the next thing we had to think about was the nursery. I searched on Pinterest for some bedding ideas and I found a beautiful set that was completely out of our budget. So then I decided to scour the site for DIY tutorials. Now, as I have stated before, I'm not a seamstress but I will try my hand at a project. This tutorial from <a href="http://prudentbaby.com/2009/09/baby-kid/diy-cute-crib-sheet/" target="_blank">Pretty Prudent</a> was just up my alley. It's fairly quick and simple especially for a novice like me. So let's get to it. Here's how I made mine which was to fit a standard crib mattress:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><i><u>Supplies:</u></i></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>at least 2 yards of fabric of your choice will work for a standard crib mattress--I actually bought 3 yards of a baby soft flannel fabric I figured I could make something ext</i><i>ra with the leftovers</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>Thread to match fabric</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>one yard of elastic (I used 1/2" width and the originally tutorial called for 3/4")</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>Pins</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>Iron</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>washing machine</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Start by washing and drying your fabric. This part I usually skip for projects but I really wanted to do this project correctly so I was sure not to skip this first step. This is in case fabric shrinks, you don't want that to happen after you've finished. Once it was dry I ironed the entire piece.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Next cut the fabric to 68 inches long. I used a standard fabric which was about 45" wide so I left that width. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Then cut an 8 X 8 inch square out of each corner. (Apparently I forgot to take pictures of this, sorry guys). </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Turn the fabric so face side to face side and sew each one of the corners together with a straight stitch.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-style: italic; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4rhbHegMhIvUAZ4_2s76mcjRemRN_iUVwcZNVfa8uQtU5EgveiEtA9NRvjcgP7kD4NJQ7kTZi0ddwZRGwIOFyiKLRb8VsC4gSztKG9Wbw7L_y1y0c2sv24ktCVE9zHK4_3kx-19yFS-U/s1600/001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4rhbHegMhIvUAZ4_2s76mcjRemRN_iUVwcZNVfa8uQtU5EgveiEtA9NRvjcgP7kD4NJQ7kTZi0ddwZRGwIOFyiKLRb8VsC4gSztKG9Wbw7L_y1y0c2sv24ktCVE9zHK4_3kx-19yFS-U/s1600/001.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-style: italic; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; font-style: italic; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-style: normal;">Next you are going to fold, pin, iron and sew a hem along all four sides with a straight stitch. If you place the pins like mine, you can sew right over them and then take them out later.</span></div>
<div style="font-style: italic; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-style: italic; text-align: center;">

<div style="font-style: italic; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-style: italic; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4cAmu7gPWRipH49bvBbExRTU2gowbbEA9PQL1w-Sg_HzU_KUhzlZFUwiKFnOVhoxn5hOib1qLmPvzWFEC2UnwnXqxjenc9He9n-ZXZe_vWD9aEwCOtURjiPGB8nUORNvJzDDmV9iPGFo/s1600/007.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4cAmu7gPWRipH49bvBbExRTU2gowbbEA9PQL1w-Sg_HzU_KUhzlZFUwiKFnOVhoxn5hOib1qLmPvzWFEC2UnwnXqxjenc9He9n-ZXZe_vWD9aEwCOtURjiPGB8nUORNvJzDDmV9iPGFo/s1600/007.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-style: italic; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; font-style: italic; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-style: normal;">Now it's time to sew the elastic into the corners. Cut your yard of elastic into four equal sections which will be 9" long. You are going to pin your elastic to the under side of the crib sheet and stretch it from one end of the elastic to the other. I started by folding my elastic section in half and pinning that in the seam of that crib sheet corner. Then I stretched the elastic out from the corner to one end and pinned it wherever it ended on the crib sheet. Then did it to the other end. You'll have 3 pins holding the elastic, one on each end and one in the middle. The crib fabric will be loose between these pins. Next comes the sewing.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-style: italic; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYCT5Jmqvo86jHfZqJjQ3U_KJ3IP-qkRTDESYYL4vH-I8e67fMAgu8cXe1XyXgRDCYAduksLa1l4Ix1GCsq4on7kbjAFry2LLhdfESWtLWuXv5nHvILny9Vk-zXgXRqygxXHPKRHoPbiw/s1600/006.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYCT5Jmqvo86jHfZqJjQ3U_KJ3IP-qkRTDESYYL4vH-I8e67fMAgu8cXe1XyXgRDCYAduksLa1l4Ix1GCsq4on7kbjAFry2LLhdfESWtLWuXv5nHvILny9Vk-zXgXRqygxXHPKRHoPbiw/s1600/006.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="font-style: italic; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-style: italic; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-style: normal;">You will need to find which setting is used on your machine. My setting looked very different from the tutorial I followed. I used the stitch for the setting 05. Be sure yours is set correctly for your machine.</span></div>
<div style="font-style: italic; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-style: normal;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-style: italic; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbMuD30mpMPotvsPNKOw-4VxjII3jLtwvi7rcBUQkJ1W1GE71HnPywAP2olu8V89bJrYBdyL4r1G9xQS8dOF-P0rw56DhNGSk2Y2rMu2M8GaLvtIVjTGlURGhpnop2T8jn7LnlYLv9fU4/s1600/013.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbMuD30mpMPotvsPNKOw-4VxjII3jLtwvi7rcBUQkJ1W1GE71HnPywAP2olu8V89bJrYBdyL4r1G9xQS8dOF-P0rw56DhNGSk2Y2rMu2M8GaLvtIVjTGlURGhpnop2T8jn7LnlYLv9fU4/s1600/013.JPG" height="320" width="213" /></a></div>
<div style="font-style: italic; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-style: italic; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-style: normal;"> As you sew you are going to pull and stretch the elastic tight across your fabric. Pull both from behind the pressure foot and in front of the machine. Sew the entire length of the elastic. Repeat these steps on the last 3 corners. Your finished corners should look something like this. The fabric will now be attached and gathered.</span></div>
<div style="font-style: italic; text-align: center;">

Some of you may have wondered what happened to me. I've been pretty MIA these last few months. Lot's of new changes are coming my way. For one, we are expecting our second child. The first trimester was especially rough this time and with my RA and trying not to take meds, I had the awful pregnancy symptoms that many experience and I had horrible flare-ups with my RA. But as I'm about to approach the half way point of this pregnancy I'm starting to feel pretty good. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Next area of news is that I also accepted a new job that is close to home and I get to spend more time with my family. This is a great opportunity for my to expand my career and experience another area of ultrasound that I have been missing. I'm very excited. But with this new job comes some study and prepping to sit for another nation board exam. So as much as I would like to say that I will be able to get more posts out to you, I fear that that will not be the case. However, my training for these new credentials will not be starting until the Fall, so I'm hoping to provide you with some great DIY projects this Summer and share how we'll prepare our new nursery. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I just want to thank everyone who keeps coming back and checking in on me. You guys are great! </div>

My best friend is going to give birth to her first child, a little girl, in May and I wanted to make her something for her and baby. That's when I decided to make her some burp cloths. Because let's face it...she's gonna need 'em!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiK8xfWUqZi9FDB5ba5YLcd6Ni9eI6Xu628YAJpdXmYiLjdsDhFufbh6TNbvzV2Ps7gAPkP2Svd9GgmUnjwrqt8Ry7ETJYeLqn8iwPcoYGN78wvpDWxKBqlZbLPl7wjGHW_pWSbrg6tesI/s1600/032.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiK8xfWUqZi9FDB5ba5YLcd6Ni9eI6Xu628YAJpdXmYiLjdsDhFufbh6TNbvzV2Ps7gAPkP2Svd9GgmUnjwrqt8Ry7ETJYeLqn8iwPcoYGN78wvpDWxKBqlZbLPl7wjGHW_pWSbrg6tesI/s1600/032.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I pinned a tutorial many moons ago from <a href="http://www.danamadeit.com/2012/04/celebrate-baby-tutorial-burp-cloth-gift-sets.html" target="_blank">Dana over at Made</a>. She has a great tutorial on this very simple and very adorable project. Honestly, I whipped these up in no time. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b><u>Here's what I used:</u></b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i><b>fabric</b>- I purchased 3 different patterned flannel fabrics cut to a half yard each and a super soft fabric and got a yard of that. (now if you are only going to make a few this is a lot of fabric. I figured I could make some binky straps and have left overs for anyone else I know who may have a daughter down the road)</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i><b>scissors</b></i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i><b>thread</b> ( I used white for all of them)</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i><b>pins</b></i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i><b>ruler</b></i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i><b>sewing machine</b></i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i><b><br /></b></i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I cut my fabric, just as Dana had suggested, to measure <b>10 X 18 inches. </b>I ironed the patterned fabric as needed</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgb4mMU3PR8Hvp0JQRdJeG9e_87BacxNdNOF_oasZ_PsobS672WUAnPxN-sK2MQwX6n1vuenSDVgxa7xJQAqVnARbyaDi7L7jIukCGbR4hQDzP_XH5KuSrCPT172RZo3SCqjdURv8IUEso/s1600/018.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgb4mMU3PR8Hvp0JQRdJeG9e_87BacxNdNOF_oasZ_PsobS672WUAnPxN-sK2MQwX6n1vuenSDVgxa7xJQAqVnARbyaDi7L7jIukCGbR4hQDzP_XH5KuSrCPT172RZo3SCqjdURv8IUEso/s1600/018.JPG" height="320" width="213" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next place the fabrics together facing one another</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWQvvn5SKX9dF-GIehdUliemNK1LS2msDP_aowI4pq6LtNpZKF2DLeH9oEnhQ5G-l5U738NVmiCFg9abnfz7ewEjyUYmh9BdClRb4jr9D5kQb7ZVnx2IDVtB4I-AAWqB7ocXnFQPlcEyI/s1600/019.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWQvvn5SKX9dF-GIehdUliemNK1LS2msDP_aowI4pq6LtNpZKF2DLeH9oEnhQ5G-l5U738NVmiCFg9abnfz7ewEjyUYmh9BdClRb4jr9D5kQb7ZVnx2IDVtB4I-AAWqB7ocXnFQPlcEyI/s1600/019.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Pin around all the edges.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwkOwbB4tL5ftgbqmtxAZNEk2bDKWiKYiAcVaM3i5_wdPnuHHEC-uvfIxuwIzjRwwLeqz7_kO3FEci_Fag8GMxniud1c39FBGzFxhVtivWo5Y5HTLCKItBX4VhIwPsYjY-mHIiDZ9HTV8/s1600/020.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwkOwbB4tL5ftgbqmtxAZNEk2bDKWiKYiAcVaM3i5_wdPnuHHEC-uvfIxuwIzjRwwLeqz7_kO3FEci_Fag8GMxniud1c39FBGzFxhVtivWo5Y5HTLCKItBX4VhIwPsYjY-mHIiDZ9HTV8/s1600/020.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next, start sewing. I started part way on the top and sewed around all edges. You'll want to leave a little gap at one area that has not been sewn so that you can flip the fabric to the correct side.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHFNW_BHgNlDKOdSiwZoS4A4MLn_UhMsOaHGvhTONRrXjh-DOz3jJ9KGvqt1vlheybHD7ErZNKmmmZwbTjI2aLoiUJB6ONZAieD4GNIH9Oz3cQkUNHuLsB3qeVlYjPgpIBIBmWWxOXjAo/s1600/021.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHFNW_BHgNlDKOdSiwZoS4A4MLn_UhMsOaHGvhTONRrXjh-DOz3jJ9KGvqt1vlheybHD7ErZNKmmmZwbTjI2aLoiUJB6ONZAieD4GNIH9Oz3cQkUNHuLsB3qeVlYjPgpIBIBmWWxOXjAo/s1600/021.JPG" height="320" width="213" /></a></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Before you turn it right side out, cut across each corner.</div>
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then turn it out.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjavGIpZRliyS7clN9a_0Yt6eqnFeU65zu_e3Y_xsMQMcK7ufCFKD0p4L9GWGA0ce8jKMLRxHs9nx1sOB7u_7VtjCdmFyKdYqTWGoMi9VCN-gq9FV7K0HwFVmL7hveoEq6zk0NeofJBC-8/s1600/027.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjavGIpZRliyS7clN9a_0Yt6eqnFeU65zu_e3Y_xsMQMcK7ufCFKD0p4L9GWGA0ce8jKMLRxHs9nx1sOB7u_7VtjCdmFyKdYqTWGoMi9VCN-gq9FV7K0HwFVmL7hveoEq6zk0NeofJBC-8/s1600/027.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next sew along the outside. This allows you to seal up the opening you used to turn the fabric out and it keeps that line all the way around.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1fwhJLAy1q08nDjpX2V1LFub34GKKMlfNjLbwDtkORwqBzMB8xlvlWhy6HVKIjgrRVa1naK38oIxOTKQa1Mplr3hXHfDaAlMR8OGLAODpN-2eeGMFCKMEdvpyocX7MHreLx29yXg5u1g/s1600/028.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1fwhJLAy1q08nDjpX2V1LFub34GKKMlfNjLbwDtkORwqBzMB8xlvlWhy6HVKIjgrRVa1naK38oIxOTKQa1Mplr3hXHfDaAlMR8OGLAODpN-2eeGMFCKMEdvpyocX7MHreLx29yXg5u1g/s1600/028.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then split the burp cloth into thirds and sew two lines from side to side. This will help the fabrics stay together and give a nice area to fold.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: "Cambria","serif"; font-size: 16.0pt; line-height: 115%; mso-ascii-theme-font: major-latin; mso-hansi-theme-font: major-latin;">I
came across letterboxing a while back. I had never heard of such a thing
before. For those of you who have also never heard of such a thing here’s how
it works. Basically it’s a treasure hunt for homemade stamps. You can find ones
in your area by visiting the<a href="http://www.letterboxing.org/" target="_blank"> Letterboxing website</a>. Now some people tell you
step by step how to locate them, others are clever and make up riddles but in
the end you will (hopefully) find a box with a stamp inside. When I found out
about this I was so excited…what a great family fun adventure?!?!? My husband
loves geocaching which is where people give you the longitude and latitude coordinates and you have to use a GPS system to locate whatever they have
hidden. So this encompasses my husband's love for looking, maybe even hiking, adventure with my
love of crafting. Since it’s only January and our weather has been less than
favorable for outdoor quests this gives me plenty of time to make my own book
to stamp and chronicle our discoveries. I’m thinking about making a printable
for it. Maybe a page to list the date, time and place with an area to stamp your
new find and also maybe add a picture (I’ll use my Polaroid 300). So I urge you
to check out the <a href="http://www.letterboxing.org/" target="_blank">letterboxing website </a>to see how many great hidden treasures
are near you!<o:p></o:p></span></div>

Here's a new video of a lamp shade my mom asked me to makeover for her. All I used was her lamp shade, burlap, ribbon, scissors, hot glue and gun (and wire because her lamp shade was in 2 parts).</div>

So what I'm about to show you is completely and utterly terrifying...are you ready? Okay...here it is</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">craft room????</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br /><div style="text-align: center;">
EEEK! This is the current state of my craft room. Gearing up for Christmas already had destroyed my room (looked like a crafting tornado {hence craftnado} had hit it) and now that Christmas is over...it's further destroyed it. If you don't know already, my husband and I work opposite shifts (he's 1st and I'm 2nd). And we have a 2 year old son. And I have rheumatoid arthritis. Why am I telling you all this? Because my time is limited to take care of the things I need to. Like taking down Christmas decorations. My RA causes stiffness and pain in the mornings. And because my right wrist joint isn't the best I avoid lifting things (like tubs for storing Christmas decorations). So, I'm slowly working on getting my decorations down (but only while my son naps) and storing those in the craft room for now. Hopefully this weekend my hubby and I can finish with the putting away all of the decorations and I can hopefully get started on cleaning up my craft room. Until then, I won't have many posts. But I'm hoping that I will the the room ready to go in a a week or two and get more posts out to you. I'm planning out some Valentine's Day decorations/crafts and I can't wait to get started. See you guys soon. Thanks for stopping by!</div>

So I've seen various takes on displaying either Christmas balls or bells in a shadow box with a cute phrase attached in or around it. Well here's my take on it: </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTGO1oYL92sT4MCtsONsjk8Zh5MDJsUmi71vsPs4ZytpIsNXcushlnN5643I9-P1HEsT_lk2IddQGiRm-48lvFf9FCwWqHs5RQQ9NaUaxldRuMFi56BLjCeghbc9kMd8dM2GXQQ1uyvJQ/s1600/peace.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTGO1oYL92sT4MCtsONsjk8Zh5MDJsUmi71vsPs4ZytpIsNXcushlnN5643I9-P1HEsT_lk2IddQGiRm-48lvFf9FCwWqHs5RQQ9NaUaxldRuMFi56BLjCeghbc9kMd8dM2GXQQ1uyvJQ/s320/peace.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I bought 2 shadow boxes about 6 weeks ago from a local thrift store I paid $3 each for them. Since they were an already made up, manufactured decoration, I had to take it apart first. Once it was apart, I took the cardboard backing and covered it with Mod Podge and pressed the burlap onto it. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7VrBmIUKlxQAZIwhk4RfGiWhglfMIw_Z94znkTjimH_ZAnqtkJu2hPlOwUdhPV3e8aiYJTxhb4ydMxqUdeCigZywneKZxvtSWpR3sjDyiyDAIBG8SMdGLJ7_FN229LGN1oI1PBXTchq4/s1600/006.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7VrBmIUKlxQAZIwhk4RfGiWhglfMIw_Z94znkTjimH_ZAnqtkJu2hPlOwUdhPV3e8aiYJTxhb4ydMxqUdeCigZywneKZxvtSWpR3sjDyiyDAIBG8SMdGLJ7_FN229LGN1oI1PBXTchq4/s320/006.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>

Next it was time to decide what to write on the front. I was originally thinking about cutting something out with vinyl on the cricut machine but then I remembered something else I bought on black friday. I got this from JoAnn Fabrics for $5!</div>
