Christmas Memory Box

I made this box after watching Marion Smith's video for her Travel book box. I decided to make a Christmas box instead. I thought it would be a nice way to document the holiday season and what better year to start it than the year we started our family. Here's a look at the box and 1st book I made:

And what makes it even more perfect is my "push" present. (in case you have no idea what that is, it's the present my husband gave me for pushing out our baby boy)He got me the new polaroid camera and the pictures are the perfect size for the mini books that go inside

So there it is. I can't wait to doodle and journal in it. I'll show you the finished product later!

Life Scrapbook; Another Christmas Gift

So a couple years ago I decided that it would be nice to make a scrapbook of my husband’s siblings and himself for his parents. He parents are divorced so that meant that I needed to make two scrapbooks. Well between school, work and life I only made one. Now, several years later my husband decided 2 days ago that I should make the one for his dad this year for Christmas. Now, I’ve mentioned before that I am pregnant. In fact I’m very pregnant…4 days overdue at this point…so yeah, let me get right on that, honey. Well I did…mostly because I have nothing left to do but wait for this baby to come. And even though he decided this literally 48hrs ago…I’m done. I’m not going to share the whole album with you but I thought I would share a few pages. It’s an 8 X 8” album that I started with group pictures then gave each child a separate section. I even added a few pages for our baby…the first grandchild in his family. I really tried to incorporate some doodling into this album and I think it came out pretty well…So here are some pics…Enjoy!

The cover:

Used a Tattered Angels' mask and glimmer mist for this background

Copied the robot for the Doodle Formula book...it's just too cute

Final Pay It Forward Gift

So it took me all year but I finally finished my last pay it forward gift. I just sat down today after getting home from the doctor’s office (I’m still very pregnant, but induction is planned for next week…whoo hoo!) and the creativity was flowing…I really like the way this mini album turned out. I used products throughout from Prima, Tattered Angels, Tim Holtz and Marion Smith. I also bought the book The Doodle Formula awhile ago and tried doing some doodling in this album. The layout of this album was from an album that Marion Smith had done last year. You can see that album on you tube at this address: http://www.youtube.com/user/APieceofCraftdotcom#p/u/81/5tlFBWRjaCU
That’s really all there is to explain. I hope you like this album as much as I do and hopefully Angela will love it too! Enjoy!

Stockings Made & Hung with Care

I did it...I don't really know how to sew but I did it. All 3 of our new family stockings are made. The letters are cut out from the cricut using the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge. I have a sewing machine from 1974 so it was a little tricky figuring out how to sew the letters on in a more decorative way then just around the edge like the rest of the stocking...but I think they came together nicely. Hope you like 'em!

A closer look at them...

And an even closer look...this is for our baby boy who should be making his grand entrance any day now...

Stocking

I know what you must be thinking…”Holy cow, she’s posting twice in one week!” I know it's crazy…lol. I just finished my mom’s Christmas gift and thought I would share it with you. Every year I make her some decoration that consists of snowflakes, snowman and the color blue. This year I made a stocking (I’m going to make all our stocking this year) But this stocking isn’t for Santa to fill. This I filled with a pine spray, some beaded sprays and a string of lights. The stocking idea came from Amy Butler. I was looking online for a pattern to make our stockings and I found this blog that talked about this felt stocking pattern. When I went to the pattern the picture showed this stocking hanging on a bike with pine and a present sticking out of the top…so yeah, I stole the idea. I’m not a sewer so this pattern was perfect. I didn’t really follow the direction on how to sew it I just kind of did my own thing. The felt was incredible cheap and I got it from JoAnn Fabrics. The sprays, lights and snowman came A.C. Moore. I filled the stocking with used plastic bags from the grocery store to give it volume. And finally the present box opens up and thats where the battery housing for the lights are held (so she can easily turn them off and on and it won't be seen) It was pretty simple once I got started.Hope you like it! If you're interested, the pattern can be found at this site http://www.amybutlerdesign.com/pdfs/Felt_Stocking.pdf

Womb to the World

Well I'm now 38wks preggers and we are impatiently awaiting Grayson's arrival. I've worked on his album as much as I can. I seperated each page as one month of pregnancy and it will included his birth and coming home. I thought I would show you what I have done so far. The album I used I bought from marionsmithdesigns.com. As I have shared before, I love her work and she sells great products. This is what the album looked like before I tore it apart.

Here are the inside pages...the whole book is made of heavy chipboard

I used paint to cover the pages, seperating each trimester by color. I used a variety of papers, prima flowers, ribbons, bling, buttons, glimmer mists ect. And item's designed by Marion Smith and Tim Holtz. Here's the album so far...

This pull tab is great! Learned it from Marion Smith! Check out how to make it from her video on ustream

This leaf we found at our Maternity photo shoot and we took a picture with it next to my belly...I love fall and I loved that picture...I saved the leaf and mod podged it to my page

I embellished this book with lots of flowers and other items with 3D dots which made it too large for the original binding. So I had to cut the covers off and I just bound it with ribbon then embellised the binding with the birdcage and pin. I really like the way this book is turning out...now we just gotta get this little guy out so I can finish it! Thanks for looking...hope you like it too!
