Letterboxing

letterboxing.org

I came across letterboxing a while back. I had never heard of such a thing before. For those of you who have also never heard of such a thing here’s how it works. Basically it’s a treasure hunt for homemade stamps. You can find ones in your area by visiting the Letterboxing website. Now some people tell you step by step how to locate them, others are clever and make up riddles but in the end you will (hopefully) find a box with a stamp inside. When I found out about this I was so excited…what a great family fun adventure?!?!? My husband loves geocaching which is where people give you the longitude and latitude coordinates and you have to use a GPS system to locate whatever they have hidden. So this encompasses my husband's love for looking, maybe even hiking, adventure with my love of crafting. Since it’s only January and our weather has been less than favorable for outdoor quests this gives me plenty of time to make my own book to stamp and chronicle our discoveries. I’m thinking about making a printable for it. Maybe a page to list the date, time and place with an area to stamp your new find and also maybe add a picture (I’ll use my Polaroid 300). So I urge you to check out the letterboxing website to see how many great hidden treasures are near you!

DIY No-Sew Lamp Shade

Here's a new video of a lamp shade my mom asked me to makeover for her. All I used was her lamp shade, burlap, ribbon, scissors, hot glue and gun (and wire because her lamp shade was in 2 parts).

Hope you guys like this. Let me know how yours turns out!
Thanks for stopping by!

Craftnado

So what I'm about to show you is completely and utterly terrifying...are you ready? Okay...here it is

craft room????

EEEK! This is the current state of my craft room. Gearing up for Christmas already had destroyed my room (looked like a crafting tornado {hence craftnado} had hit it) and now that Christmas is over...it's further destroyed it. If you don't know already, my husband and I work opposite shifts (he's 1st and I'm 2nd). And we have a 2 year old son. And I have rheumatoid arthritis. Why am I telling you all this? Because my time is limited to take care of the things I need to. Like taking down Christmas decorations. My RA causes stiffness and pain in the mornings. And because my right wrist joint isn't the best I avoid lifting things (like tubs for storing Christmas decorations). So, I'm slowly working on getting my decorations down (but only while my son naps) and storing those in the craft room for now. Hopefully this weekend my hubby and I can finish with the putting away all of the decorations and I can hopefully get started on cleaning up my craft room. Until then, I won't have many posts. But I'm hoping that I will the the room ready to go in a a week or two and get more posts out to you. I'm planning out some Valentine's Day decorations/crafts and I can't wait to get started. See you guys soon. Thanks for stopping by!
