Pinspiration Sunday: Color-A-Stache Coloring Book

So I came across this blog called Life According to the Street's which had a post about their Mustache Bash themed birthday party. She had made her own coloring pages for an activity. I thought this would be great too. So I decided to look up images of mustaches that could be colored in. It took some time but eventually I found a Mr. Potato Head, the Lorax, glasses, nose and mustache and finally (since his birthday is in December) I chose a picture of Santa. I used the printable scrapbook paper I bought from Honey Bunny and printed 2 pages per book as the cover with cream colored cardstock.I made a cover calling it Color-A-Stache and put a big picture of a mustache on it.

I printed the coloring pages out on regular printer paper.

Then I used my Zutter Bind-it-all to create a binding using 1/2 inch O wires.

It was actually a super easy creation and I think it's super cute! I hope the kids like it!

Pinspiration Sunday: Mustaches!

Well this isn’t necessarily something I found on Pinterest but because of Pinterest I’ve fallen in love with mustaches! There is just something so fun about putting a mustache on….anyways, I also love the concept of them incorporated with babies…or little men…and my son is such a little man! So for his first birthday we are planning a Mustache Bash! I looked online for invites but either couldn’t afford the really nice ones or they just weren’t what I was looking for. So I decided to make my own. Here’s a test run of it. I’m trying to find an affordable Billionaire Cricut cartridge so I can get the mustache cutout but in the meantime I used a stamp from inkadinkado. I bought printable paper from Honey Bunny Studio on Etsy. This Little Man collection was only $5 and included 10 different designs. The special font I got for FREE from dafont called Quinten Caps. The front shape was Cartoche from the Sweethearts Cricut cartridge at a 3 ½ size setting. For the inside, well that took some work. I am not savvy in the digital design world. I used Microsoft Word 2010 and somehow through inserting a 2 X 2 table and inserting a text block over the font and shifting to behind the words…I got what I got…I honestly can’t explain how. And you are most likely laughing at my stupidity, but I’m okay with that. In the end it all came together and I couldn’t be happier. I printed the pattern on an 8.5 X 11 cream cardstock. Flipped it over and printed the inside. The allowed me to make 2 invitations per sheet. Finally I just inked the edges. Here's what I finished with...

Pinspiration Sunday: Scarflette

So I’m really going to work on getting some crafting done…I’ve definitely been slacking and now it’s time for me to get my butt in gear. I’ve found lots of great ideas on Pinterest and I’m going to try to make one project at least every two weeks. I’m calling it Pinspiration Sunday. When I make a project I will be sure to write about it on here. So here goes my first project: a scarflette.

I honestly don’t know how often I will use this but I found this tutorial and thought I would give it a try. But basically I just looked at the picture and tried it my own way…I don’t knit or crochet and I’m not very good at sewing (but I’m trying) so I just used some stitch witchery to assist me in this project. First I went to the thrift store and found this sweater. It was $4.99 but it had a green tag which meant that it was the half price color of the week….BONUS!

I took off all the buttons and but one sleeve off.

Next I used stitch witchery to seal the ends (SOOOOO EASY!)

Then I just sewed the buttons on the one end. Now these are nonfunctioning buttons so I think I’m going to buy some Velcro to help hold the two ends together. And that’s it. It was a crazy easy project and for not really having a clue what I was doing, I think it turned out pretty cool. Hope you like it!

The King Married His Queen...and They Had a Photo Booth!

Well the nuptials of King and Cupiccia came and went this past weekend. It was a blast and a pleasure to not only be there to see it but to be a part of it! I love them both and wish them a lifetime of happiness!!!! And our gift of a photo booth was achieved! It turned out great. My wonderful electronics engineering husband made a button to operate the Spark Booth software which we purchased for $59. We bought a tripod for around $40 at Best Buy. We already had a computer monitor that we weren't using so we attached that to the tripod and attached the webcam on top and used my laptop to run the program. I wish we would have taken a picture of the finally setup to show you, but unfortunately, we did not. Instead of using the fabric I bought at the antique store we just used the barn wall which was a GREAT background! The props were placed on a table between the barn and the tripod. The button box was attached to the table via Velcro. The wedding was outdoors in the late afternoon into the evening hours so we bought a can light that we attached to the tripod and used a 40 watt bulb. Next time we will place a light diffusing sheet over it as the light was a little bright.

We didn't have a printer for the night so we uploaded the images on to a private PhotoBucket page and password protected it. On the table with the props we left a "Thank You" box with the web address and password so people could view everyone's photos. All-in-all I would say that we did a great job with this project. I think the Kings and their guest enjoyed it...I know I sure did!

The Perfect Pair

Well here are the last two flags I made. I painted them as close to the wedding colors as I could. I wanted one side to say Mr. and Mrs. but I wasn’t sure what to put on the other. I searched my cricut cartridges for inspiration and on the Sweethearts cartridge (obviously the perfect one for a wedding) I chose “the perfect pair” and “you and me” I like these because in a sequence of photo booth images, each side could be used. I then cut out the words/letters and then mod podged them on. I think they turned out great! What do you think?

Then to finish my prop collection I went thrift store shopping…unfortunately I didn’t find as much as I would have liked to but I did buy two hats and a string of pearls. I also found a tub to put the props in and a metal decoration that had a flower in the center. I taped off the outside and sprayed it with the chalkboard paint. Now it’s my sign for the photo booth. I also went to A C Moore and bought some cutout finished wood words for $1.16 each. I bought “smile”, “kiss”, and “party” and also bought two small chalkboards just in case it was needed and they were, I think, $1.19 each. Here’s what the finish props look like:

Chalkboard Flags

So I wanted to make some chalkboard props for my friend's fastly approaching wedding. I bought some unfinished wood flags awhile back when I purchased my other prop making items. Unfortunately I didn't take a before picture of the flags, sorry. I bought 5 altogether and they were clearanced for 25 cents each (bonus!)I bought a can of chalkboard spray paint for a few bucks at Walmart. I sprayed 2 coats over the flag. It did cover the part of the handle but I thought I would just pain over that anyways. But when I tried to, my paint would not cover it. So I painted to the rest of the handle black to match. I didn't want black handles though...so I looked though my mess of supplies (and I do mean mess...my craftroom looks like the police came with a search warrant) and found some lace. I used mod podge on the handles, put the lace over top and allowed it to dry overnight. The end product looks like this:

I did 3 of the 5 flags as chalkboards. The other two I did something a little different. You'll have to check back for that finished product later! Thanks for stopping by :0)

Moms Get-R-Dun!

I know that I have made this a craft blog but I kind of just want to talk about being a mother, just for a second. I don't know about you, but honestly I mom made it seem easy. I've always been one who can get a lot of tasks accomplished and I've faced a lot of struggles in my day but sometimes I get so stressed out. But here it is 8:40am and I am writing on here. My son is swinging away, hopefully off to dreamland for at least a half hour. But since I've been up I've managed to apply fake tanner to my legs (I have my friend's bridal shower tomorrow and these legs cannot be glowing white), I'm working on my second cup of coffee, baked pork chops, did some Facebooking, hung out on Pinterest, found a new blog to follow (via Pinterest!) played with my son which ultimately allowed me to started a new jumping workout routine which left me breathless but my 7 month old unleashed infectious belly laughs (so bonus!) and did some arm toning (again, thanks to Pinterest). All before 9am…when I look at it that way, I guess I am like my momma….she probably had times when she felt stressed out too…but she got it done…and I do it all too...it pays off to see this smile. This is Grayson on his very first 4th of July! It's all worth it!
